Vision Statement
The Live Oak team will empower and equip student leaders as passionate and skilled 21st century learners and possess an unwavering "liberation mindset"; a set of collective beliefs and actions rooted in the goal of achieving high levels of academic and social success for all learners, as guided by and outlined in the FUESD Blueprint for Student Success, resulting in increased achievement for all students.

Mission Statement
At Live Oak Elementary we believe that students succeed in an atmosphere where children are engaged, take responsibility for their learning, and respect themselves and others, therefore, a safe learning environment, high standards, and leadership goals are of greatest priority. As a professional learning community, we believe in the worth of every student, and as a result, strive to enable each child to become a self-confident, skilled, and successful citizen, ready to embrace college and career goals.  It is our mission and expectation that the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and the philosophies of the Leader in Me, will be developed, modeled, and fully integrated in everything we do at L.O.E.

The Leader in Me

The Leader In Me at L.O.E.

The Leader in Me The 7 Habits

What is The Leader In Me?
"Based on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The Leader In Me equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century economy." (www.leaderinme.org)

A Common Language: The 7 Habits
"When everyone - teachers, students, and parents - begin using the same language, you get a compound-interest effect that is truly amazing. The 7 Habits create that common language. For example, what a difference it makes when everyone knows what it means to 'put first things first' or to 'seek first to understand' or to 'be proactive.' Leader In Me Schools often find their students using the language among themselves and with their parents: 'I need to put first things first and do my homework before I play'..." (www.leaderinme.org)

 Lighthouse Status: WE DID IT!!
Schools are designated as a “Lighthouse School” because they have completed the entire three year training regimen for The Leader in Me, and went through an extensive on site review by FranklinCovey to ensure the fidelity of implementation of the program. We met the following criteria: http://www.richfieldpsa.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/Lighthouse-School-Criteria.pdf
  • So, according to the CDE there are 5,858 schools in California and only 11 schools in California have attained Lighthouse Status (that's .18%)!
  • There are only 246 schools in the world (internationally) that have reached Lighthouse status and 208 are in the United States!

Leadership Day 2015 @ LOE!

Congratulations, Dr. Kerr, Principal for CA for the Lifetouch Memory Mission® to the Dominican Republic 2017!

 lifetouch
In January 2017, some 50 volunteers will depart on a Lifetouch Memory Mission® to the Dominican Republic to continue to build an elementary school. Joining Dr. Kerr will be superintendents, principals, and members of the School Superintendents Association (AASA), the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), National School Boards Association (NSBA), National PTA, along with educators from schools across North America.Dr. Kerr wanted to model for the students of LOE what it means to be a servant leader!

LOE had 15 parent leaders complete an eight-week parent leader book club. Thanks to our school counselor, Marilyn Thompson and our PTA president, Nicole Weber, the participants read, collaborated, and shared their insights every Tuesday morning in Room B13 on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families. Administration participated along the way, and witnessed great growth and empowerment in the graduates. They completed the journey with celebration potluck and certificates... in proper Covey fashion, everyone enjoyed “Sharpening the Saw” and taking a moment to celebrate!!
