 Vision Statement

Mary Fay Pendleton School provides a culture of leadership, high academic rigor, and personal growth to all students in a safe and enriching environment.

    • Culture of Leadership - We use the Leader in Me appproach which is based on Stephen Coveys the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" to develop a culture of leadership. This approach helps students identify their own unique talents and abilities; encouraging them to make a positive difference in the world.
    • Academic Rigor - We use vertical and horizontal collaboration time to: identify focus standards, create measurable objectives, discuss best practices, develop common assessments, and analyze data to ensure academic growth for all students.
    • Personal Growth - The Mary Fay family is committed to working together to ensure every student has the opportunity to improve socially, emotionally, and academically.

 Mission Statement

Mary Fay is committed to developing each student's academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being through a safe, engaging, and rigorous standards-based learning environment infused with leadership and a college-bound culture.
    • Learning Experiences - Together, we create learning experiences that require students to think independently and critically apply their knowledge.
    • Family Commitment - Mary Fay families are committed to their student's education. They ensure that their student is present, on time, and prepared for school each day. Our families are active participants in their student's education both inside and outside of school. Mary Fay families believe the path to college starts now.

  • Egg Project

Mrs. Seeger's and Mrs. Hoff's second graders are engineers at work!
The Task: Students were given a specific set of simple materials. 15 straws, one sheet of paper, 5 rubber bands, 1 30-cm piece of tape, 100 cm of string. In a shoebox, they designed a shipping container for an egg (sealed inside a plastic baggie for safety). It’s teamwork at it’s best. Collaboration, compromise, and hard work. The box is then shipped to a school in Chicago in an eggs-change. When both classes receive their packages, they will open them live on Skype. They will analysis and share data about the condition of the eggs.
    Stay tuned for the results!

  • Pumpkin Challenge

Mrs. Girkin's kindergarten students partnered up with Mrs. Hoff's second grade students to engineer a solution to their pumpkin challenge. They created a plan, tested it, evaluated it, and then had the chance to revise the plan. They showed wonderful collaboration, creativity, and perseverance!
